IN CRYPTO NEWS THIS WEEK: COINBASE THROWS SHADE AT METAMASK? SAY IT AIN’T SO!

Hey Crypto friends!

There has been so much crypto news this past weekend and today so I’m getting you all caught up beginning today.

First up, Coinbase has just launched a new payments service! It’s a browser extension for the Chrome web browser that’s supposed to make it easier to participate in DeFi or to trade NFT’s. Normally to use those services you’d need a non-custodial wallet (with a non custodial wallet you are in control of your private keys which controls your cryptocurrency and proves that the assets are yours).

Coinbase claims that you can now use their payments service that is much better than Metamask. Oooooh, look at Coinbase throwing more shade than a forest! They described Metamask as “a cumbersome process that involves multiple steps,” and has a high potential for user error. Oooooooh!

If it’s your first time using Coinbase you’ll need to connect your crypto wallet and then you can add funds. Previously to add funds to your Coinbase wallet you’d have to log in to the Coinbase website, purchase crypto, then enter your wallet address to transfer the funds. To me this seems to be so much more convenient!

Coinbase has been talking about making cryptocurrency and NFTs more accessible to the general population, they even have begun to let users pay for NFTs with Mastercard earlier this year, now you know that’s huge!
